23 Nov Is The Secret To A Happy Marriage Drinking Together?
Weddings are fun but marriage is hard and you’ll need to work at your relationship day in, day out if you want it to be a success long after your Manchester wedding videographer has packed up his gear and gone home. But if you’re looking for a little tip as to how to make it a bit easier to navigate married life, look to this new piece of research from the University of Michigan, which has just revealed that older married couples who have the same drinking habits (whether that’s abstinence or enjoying a tipple or two) are typically happier than those where just one person in the relationship drinks. The amount you drink is less important than whether you and your other half have the same habits of either drinking or not drinking, the study found. “We’re not suggesting that people should drink more or change the way they drink. We’re not sure why this is happening but it could be that couples that do more leisure time activities together have better marital quality,” study author Dr Kira Birditt told Reuters Health. So there you have it! As long as you and your partner like to drink or don’t, then chances are you’ll be happily married for years to come. What do you think makes a happy marriage?
